From April 28 to 30, 2025, Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) hosted the first session of the regional platform for the management of the transboundary ecosystem of W Park, as part of the NB-ITTAS Project.

This meeting marked a key milestone in the operationalization of regional governance structures designed to promote joint management of the natural complex shared by Benin, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
The goal of this platform is to strengthen cooperation among the countries involved in the preservation of natural resources, through the development of a 2025 action plan, a resource mobilization strategy, and a monitoring framework for environmental indicators.

Driven by a participatory approach, the session brought together members of national platforms, facilitators, and representatives from the regional bureau. It is part of the broader efforts of the NB-ITTAS Project to enhance the integrated management of natural resources and transboundary ecosystems within the Niger Basin region and the Iullemeden-Taoudéni/Tanezrouft aquifer system.

The transboundary governance platform of W Park was officially established in November 2024 in Cotonou, during a regional workshop.
