From May 14 to 16, 2025, the Cameroonian capital hosted the first session of the regional governance platform for the transboundary ecosystem of the Mandara Mountains, as part of the NB-ITTAS Project. This meeting marks a significant step forward in the implementation of a coordinated management system for the shared natural resources between Cameroon and Nigeria.

Over the course of three days, participants from the national platforms of both countries worked together to finalize the 2025 action plan, develop a resource mobilization strategy, and lay the foundations for a joint environmental monitoring system.

This session is part of the broader NB-ITTAS Project’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the integrated management of natural resources and transboundary ecosystems in the Niger Basin region.

With its operationalization during this session, the regional platform for the Mandara Mountains now serves as a vital framework for cooperation to preserve biodiversity, promote peace, and enhance the resilience of local communities facing environmental challenges.
