Yaoundé, May 21, 2025 – As part of the NB-ITTAS Project, the first session of the regional platform for the transboundary ecosystem of BSB Yamoussa was held in Yaoundé, bringing together representatives from Cameroon, Chad, and project partners. This meeting marks a key milestone in establishing a sustainable and collaborative governance framework for the preservation of one of the Niger Basin’s ecological treasures.

In a spirit of cooperation and commitment, Mr. Bachir Tanimoun, representing the Executive Secretary of the NBA, praised the willingness of the riparian states to make this platform a driver of synergy, resilience, and action. He highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader regional effort to effectively respond to increasing environmental pressures on shared ecosystems.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Economy, Mr. Debok Nghemning Guy, Director of Land Use Planning, emphasized the strategic importance of the BSB Yamoussa ecosystem for local communities and sustainable development efforts. He encouraged participants to make the platform a vibrant space for innovation, coordination, and joint initiatives.

The result of several years of groundwork, this session opens a new chapter in transboundary cooperation—where biodiversity, peace, and progress can thrive together, now and for the future.
