As part of the NB-ITTAS project implementation, the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) is organizing a capacity-building workshop for Trainers of Trainers (ToT) from July 15 to 19, 2024, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. This workshop aims to support the sustainable implementation of community pilot projects in the nine NBA countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and Chad.
Specifically, it will enhance the knowledge of Trainers of Trainers (ToT) on key topics to replicate these trainings and support the sustainable implementation of community pilot projects across the nine NBA countries.
The workshop will develop modules on integrated soil fertility management, water and soil conservation measures, sustainable fisheries management and pond development, entrepreneurship and value chain management, and rural finance and organizational strategies.
To improve the management, governance, and conservation of the Niger Basin resources and the Iullemeden-Taoudéni/Tanezrouft aquifer systems, community demonstration pilot projects have been established to strengthen ecosystem resilience and improve the livelihoods of local communities.
The Abidjan workshop will be followed by a General Assembly (GA) on July 20, 2024, for the renewal of the bodies of the Regional Coordination of Natural Resource Users of the Niger Basin (CRU).
